Announced at the 2014 PlayStation Experience as an exclusive for PS4 and PC, Street Fighter V (SFV) is the latest addition to the Street Fighter franchise from Capcom & Dimps Corporation. As with its predecessor it is a 2D fighting game using 3D models and animations. It is being developed with Unreal Engine 4.
SFV's gameplay is a 1-on-1 fight between two combatants on a 2D plane. Players utilize a variety of attacks and special abilities unique to their character of choice in a race to empty their opponent's life bar.
The series' traditional six-button control scheme returns along with two-button throws, EX special attacks, and Supers in the form of Critical Arts. SFV also brings a bevy of all-new mechanics to the series and introduces a variety of interesting tweaks to core systems from previous games.
On the surface, SFV may appear to play very similarly to past entries in the series. However, with a number of changes to the more familiar systems, SFV is clearly its own game.
Normal attacks (normals), attacks that are performed simply by pushing a single button while your character is either standing, crouching, or jumping, and command normals, modified attacks that are performed by pushing a button and a directional input simultaneously, have been changed in the following ways:
No proximity normals - In previous games, normals performed while standing would often have two variations, one for standing close to the opponent and one for standing farther away. This is no longer the case, as standing normals now perform the same attack regardless of distance.
No directional air normals - Traditionally, normals performed while jumping straight up were distinct from normals performed when jumping diagonally. In SFV, the jumping normal for each button is always the same regardless of direction with few exceptions.
Easier link timing - A link is when an attack puts the opponent in enough hitstun to allow for a guaranteed followup attack at the end of the previous attack's recovery animation. While linking became a prevalent strategy in Street Fighter IV (SFIV), the fact that successful links often required 1-frame (or 1/60th of a second) timing created an extraordinarily high execution barrier to top-level play. To close this skill gap, SFV has implemented a buffer window allowing players to input a normal early by two frames, effectively transforming all 1-frame links into 3-frame links.
White chip damage - While blocked normals have never done any damage in the past, in SFV blocked medium and heavy normals cause potential "white damage" to the opponent. This white damage will accumulate until either the opponent evades offensive contact long enough for their white damage to recover or the opponent is hit at which point the white damage converts to actual red damage.
A number of adjustments have been made to normalize special-move commands and reduce the execution barrier of SFV. 360 motions, commonly used for command throws, have been replaced by half-circle motions. Many tap specials, such as Chun-Li's Hyakuretsukyaku, are now performed with quarter-circle motions. Additionally, specials can now be canceled out of chained normals, and chip damage from specials can no longer cause a KO regardless of how low the opponent's life is.
The EX meter returns as a three-stock bar across the entire cast. EX meter is generated similarly to SFIV (primarily through dealing damage and executing special attacks), and is used for performing enhanced versions of special moves for one stock and unleashing Critical Arts for a full bar. Critical Arts function mechanically as super moves from previous Street Fighter games, one-off attacks with high damage and invincibility, with an added cinematic flourish borrowed from the Ultra Combos in SFIV, and are the only way to KO with chip damage in SFV.
In SFV, a majority of the attacks that previously resulted in a hard knockdown (a knockdown with an extended, fixed recovery time), including throws and sweeps, now result in a soft knockdown instead (a knockdown with the option of a quick recovery). In addition to waiting for your character to stand up naturally or inputting a quick-rise, players in soft knockdown also have the option to perform a quick-rise that slides them backwards a short distance as well; this rule does not apply when recovering from a throw.
Each character has access to one or two unique crush counter attacks that, on counter-hit, put the opponent into a special stagger state that allows for a followup attack. While most crush counters, like Cammy's Heavy Kick, set the opponent spinning in place, others, like Zangief's Heavy Kick, launch the opponent up into the air, or, like Ryu's standing Heavy Punch, knock the opponent across the screen. Additionally, landing the universal sweep attack crush counter is one of the few ways to put the opponent into a hard-knockdown state. To balance this added potency, attacks with the Crush Counter ability are unsafe on block in many situations.
V-Meter is the new game-defining system introduced in SFV. Similar to the Ultra Meter from SFIV, the V-Meter is primarily generated by receiving damage at a rate of 25% life per stock. Additional ways to generate V-Meter include accumulating white life and landing crush counter attacks. Meter length varies between two stocks and three stocks per character and is tied to three different functions.
Each character has a unique V-Skill which can be performed by pressing Medium Punch+Medium Kick. V-Skills vary widely from character to character, including unique attacks, parries, fireball counters, and special mobility options. In addition to their primary functions, V-Skills also provide players with the only method for generating V-Meter outside of taking damage.
V-Reversals are performed by pressing Forward+All 3 Punches or All 3 Kicks, according to character, while in blockstun. Costing a single stock of V-Meter, V-Reversals serve as a way to escape pressure, either through a counterattack that deals white damage or evasive character movement, and instantly recover a portion of the character's Stun Gauge.
Before a fight begins, players can choose from one of two different V-Triggers for their character. Once their V-Meter is completely full, they can activate their selected V-Trigger by pressing Heavy Punch+Heavy Kick. Activation can occur from a neutral position, and as a cancel from various normal and special moves on a per-character basis. This results in a variety of character-specific power boosts including access to new attacks.
Arcade Mode - Players can relieve past story lines from the Street Fighter franchise by taking on a ladder of characters custom themed for numerous past titles, earning character-specific endings and artwork in the process.
Story Mode - Players pick their challenger and fight through a set of AI battles, punctuated by cutscenes that offer insights into each character's personality and motivations.
Survival Mode - Players face a series of opponents on a single healthbar, earning points along the way that can be used to purchase various powerups.
Challenge Mode - Challenge Mode consists of four separate modes:
Demonstrations - A series of tutorials designed to help players of all levels understand and improve the way they play SFV, as well as provide advice on how to use each of the 16 characters.
Trials - Combo challenges for each character ranging from basic to advanced.
Missions - Goals that renew weekly, allowing players can complete to earn Fight Money and special unlocks.
Extra Battle - Fights against special CPU bosses with in-game rewards for completion.
Cinematic Story Mode - Bridging the narrative gap between Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III, players take control of a wide variety of characters as they play through the story of SFV, told through a series of fully-animated cutscenes.
SFV features cross-platform online multiplayer between PC and PS4 using an all-new proprietary netcode. Nicknamed "Kagemusha", this netcode utilizes rollback technology akin to the popular GGPO fighting game netcode.
Offline Versus Mode - Player can battle each other over 1, 3 or 5 rounds that can last either 60 or 99 seconds.
Battle Lounge - Up to 8 players can enter an online lobby together and play for as long as they'd like in a winner-stays-on format.
Ranked Match - Players can enter matches against random online opponents to compete for LP and increase their rank on the SFV leaderboards. After a game, players have the option to agree to continue the set, up to a best-of-3.
Casual Match - Players can be matched up against random opponents and test their skills without the risk of having their LP be impacted. Similar to Ranked, players have the option to play in an extended set.
Intentional Disconnects - In an effort to combat players intentionally disconnecting from the game to avoid a loss (or "rage quitters"), Capcom has implemented a system that will punish a player after 3 intentional disconnects within 2 hours, locking them out of matchmaking for 24 hours and docking them 1000LP.
Also known as "Gouki", Akuma is the younger brother of Ryu and Ken's teacher, Gouken. A warrior fixated on mastering the Satsui no Hadou, Akuma travels the world searching for worthy opponents to hone his killing intent on.
V-Skill - Rakan - A parry that nullifies a single hit and can the be canceled into an upward kick or a forward palm strike.
V-Reversal- Gosenkyaku - A spinning kick that knocks the opponent away.
V-TriggerI - Dohatsu Shoten - Akuma powers up, granting enhanced properties to his Gohadokens and Goshoryukens, and gaining access to his Shun Goku Satsu critical art.
V-Trigger II - Shiretsu Hasshi - For a period of time, Akuma gains access to the ability to cancel heavy normal attacks and normal special attacks into EX special attacks, consuming V-Meter instead of EX-meter in the process.
Alex was orphaned at a young age and raised by his father's friend, Tom. Taking advantage of Tom's background as a military veteran and fighter, Alex has trained daily to master a unique grappling style of combat that takes full advantage of his long limbs.
V-Skill - Overhaul - By taking a moment to stretch, Alex turns his next successful attack into a guaranteed counter-hit unless the opponent can hit him first.
V-Reversal - Big Boot - A heavy kick that knocks the opponent down.
V-Trigger I - Rage Shift - Alex gains access to a chargeable clothesline attack that can parry an attack while it charges and guard breaks when the charge reaches maximum power.
V-Trigger II - Rage Boost - Alex gains access to his Flying DDT long-range command-grab and a new Choke Sleeper followup for his Flash Chop.
Once a champion boxer, his overwhelming desire to earn more "fight money" pushed him to incorporate a number of illegal techniques into his repertoire, leading to his eventual banning from the competitive scene. His talents did not go unnoticed however, as after joining the criminal organization Shadaloo he quickly climbed the ranks to become M. Bison's chief enforcer.
V-Skill - KKB - A forward-moving twirl that bypasses projectiles and allows Balrog to cancel out of the startup frames of his special moves.
V-Reversal - Buffalo Head - A rising headbutt that knocks the opponent down and keeps them close.
V-Trigger I - Crazy Rush - Balrog enters a state that allows him to chain together his various special moves.
V-Trigger II - No Mercy - Balrog gains access to a command grab that deals high stun damage to his opponent.
A veteran from the first Street Fighter, Birdie is an ex-wrestler turned Shadaloo enforcer. Currently on the outs with M. Bison after a botched attempt to steal the Psycho Drive, Birdie has turned to food, going as far as to incorporate it into his fighting style (and gut).
V-Skill - Break Time/Banana Time/Drink Time - A variable V-Skill, Birdie can eat a doughnut for V-Meter, a banana to create a stationary peel trap, or an energy drink which he turns into a slow rolling projectile.
V-Reversal - Pepper Pot - A headbutt that knocks the opponent down.
V-Trigger I - Enjoy Time - Birdie eats a hot pepper, causing him to spout a burst of flame at his opponent and granting him additional damage and other properties to his specials.
V-Trigger II - Birdie Time - While powered-up Birdie can perform two new, long-range chain attacks.
The monstrous fighter known as Blanka has, at long last, been reunited with his mother after a fateful plane crash stranded him in the Amazon. While his reintegration to society is faring well, a seemingly innocuous offer to turn his life into a merchandising opportunity threatens to once again embroil him in a world conflict.
V-Skill - Coward Crouch - A very low crouch capable of avoiding many attacks, with a juggling uppercut and a forward leap as optional followups.
V-Reversal - - A quick spin attack that knocks the opponent down.
V-Trigger I - Jungle Dynamo - Powers up Blanka's roll attacks and Electric Thunder, granting him extended combo opportunities, and grants access to the Ground Shave Rolling special attack.
V-Trigger II - Lightning Beast - Allows Blanka to cancel his various roll attacks into a new Rolling Cannon followup attack.
A female clone of M. Bison, Cammy was originally the brainwashed assassin known as Killer Bee. Now fully self-aware and free of Bison's influence, she has made a career for herself as a member of the MI6 squad Delta Red, traveling the world to thwart the actions of Shadaloo.
V-Skill - Axel Spin Knuckle - An upgraded version of her Quick Spin Knuckle, Cammy can pass through projectiles and her opponent to deliver a punch that autocorrects when crossing-up.
V-Reversal - Strike Back - A swift leap behind the opponent into a kick that knocks down.
V-Trigger I - Delta Drive - Allows Cammy to perform faster, stronger, and safer versions of her special moves.
V-Trigger II - Delta Ambush - For a duration, Cammy gains access to new approach option from the air with downward kick and throw followups, in addition to a new command dash.
An agent of Interpol, Chun-Li is always present to put an end to organised criminal activity. She has taken a particular interest in Shadaloo as its leader M.Bison is the man who murdered Chun-Li's father. Adept in many fighting styles of her homeland of China, including Kung Fu, Tai chi and Wushu, Chun-Li is the female face of the world warriors.
V-Skill - Rankyaku - A low-trajectory jump that hits on the way up, giving Chun-Li access an alternate angle of approach as well as additional combo opportunities.
V-Reversal - Sohakkei - A palm strike that leaves the opponent at close-range.
V-Trigger I - Renkiko - Adds an additional hit to Chun-Li's medium attacks and two additional hits to her heavy attacks, granting her extra damage on hit and white damage on block.
V-Trigger II - Kikosho - Chun-Li gains access to her Kikosho attack that, when fully charged, gains guard-break properties.
A yogi with an unnaturally flexible body, Dhalsim has been forced to betray his personal beliefs as a pacifist by entering the World Warrior tournament in order to raise money for his impoverished village in India. He fights with elastic limbs and the ability to spew great gouts of flame from his mouth, all the while struggling to remain calm and focused to ensure that his violent acts do not turn his soul to evil.
V-Skill - Yoga Float - Dhalsim takes a vertical leap and floats momentarily with the ability to move horizontally, attack or access air specials at any time. Can also be initiated in the air.
V-Reversal - Yoga Mala - A double-handed backfist that knocks the opponent away.
V-Trigger I - Yoga Burner - Dhalsim spreads a carpet of flame across the floor in front of him that causes continual white-life damage to the opponent.
V-Trigger II - Yoga Sansara - Dhalsim gains the ability to launch multiple floating fire orb projectiles that can be influenced by his Yoga Flame and Yoga Gale special attacks.
Like so many, Ed is yet another iteration on M. Bison's potential clone bodies. Kidnapped at a young age by the S.I.N. organization and experimented on, Ed was eventually rescued from the rubble of their facilities by Balrog. Balrog took it upon himself to train the young boy, and thanks to his accelerated aging Ed has matured into a formidable fighter, enhancing Balrog's fearsome boxing style with M. Bison's psycho power. However, at night the ghost of M. Bison still haunts Ed, serving as a constant reminder that his body is free for the taking.
V-Skill - Psycho Snatcher - A lasso of psycho energy that can pull Ed or his opponent on contact, depending on how long it is charged.
V-Reversal - Kill Step - A ducking step that travels past the opponent.
V-Trigger I - Psycho Cannon - Ed conjures a massive, slow-traveling sphere of psycho power and launches it from his chest.
V-Trigger II - Enhanced Snatcher - Ed's V-Skill is temporarily powered-up to become advantageous on block and allow for new followup options on hit.
F.A.N.G. is the self-proclaimed second-in-command of Shadaloo. While his primary focus is overseeing the criminal organization's various operations, he is more than ready to go toe to toe with the strongest of the world warriors. His unique fighting style revolves around the use of poisons to pressure his opponents into making bad decisions as they struggle to manage their ever-draining vitality.
V-Skill - Nishodoku - A slow moving poison projectile that inflicts continuous damage to the opponent on contact.
V-Reversal - Nikaiho - A strange crab-walk that travels through the opponent.
V-Trigger I - Dokunomu - F.A.N.G. shrouds himself in a poison cloud that deals damage continuous damage when he is next to his opponent.
V-Trigger II - Koryo Dokuda - For the duration, F.A.N.G.'s Ryobenda and Nishikyu special attacks become powered-up.
Ever since the disappearance and apparent death of his friend and mentor, Charlie Nash, at the hands of M. Bison, Colonel Guile of the U.S. military has been driven by his quest to avenge his comrade and discover Nash's true fate once and for all. Guile fights with a combination of military martial arts and professional wrestling, and has significantly evolved the Sonic Boom technique he originally learned from Nash.
V-Skill - Sonic Blade - A stationary projectile that provides a power boost to any Sonic Booms that pass through it.
V-Reversal - Reverse Back Knuckle While Blocking - A spinning backfist that knocks the opponent down.
V-Trigger I - Solid Puncher - Guile powers up his fists, allowing him to throw a flurry of Sonic Booms at varying speeds.
V-Trigger II - Knife Edge - Guile powers up his feet, adding special projectiles to his normal Somersault Kick, and a second flip to the EX version.
An isolated life of training in the arts of ninjitsu has grown Ibuki into a fearsome warrior, but her spirit can't help but long for a life of freedom and adventure. Whether she's looking to challenge her rival Sakura Kasugano, test her mettle against the world warriors, or simply look for cool guys, Ibuki has a few new tricks up her sleeve that she's ready to bring to bear against any opponent.
V-Skill - Tenrai - An energy blast that can be charged for additional range.

Juri is a sadistic fighter with a lust for violence and a grudge against M. Bison. There are no lengths she is unwilling to go to if it brings her closer to her goal of toppling Shadaloo and exacting revenge against the man responsible for the death of her parents, including working for the equally unscrupulous group known as S.I.N.
V-Skill - Kasatsushu - A teleport dash behind the opponent that leads to a followup kick, can be dash canceled while charging and stored.
V-Reversal - Kaisenrenkyaku - A spinning kick that lifts Juri off the ground and knocks down the opponent.
V-Trigger I - Feng Shui Engine Alpha - Juri gains the ability to cancel her normal attacks into one another and her Fuharenkyaku attacks remain charged for the duration.
V-Trigger II - Feng Shui Engine Beta - Juri performs a vacuum roundhouse kick then enters a state where she drains EX meter any time she is in close proximity of her opponent.
The wealthy daughter of the Kanzuki family, Karin's pursuits as a martial artist are driven by her desire to uphold the family motto, "In all things be victorious!" As the self-appointed rival to Sakura, Karin is determined to prove the superiority of her unique Kanzuki fighting style, created by combining elements of the numerous fighting styles Karin has mastered.
V-Skill - Meioken - A forward-stepping palm-thrust that dissipates projectiles and knocks down opponents.
V-Reversal - Yashagaeshi - A quick upward slash with her hand that knocks the opponent down.
V-Trigger I - Kanzuki-Ryu Guren no Kata - Grants Karin access to the Guren Ken attack, a two-hit palm-strike that leads directly into a number of varied followup attacks.
V-Trigger II - Tenha no Kata - Karin gains temporary access to a counter-attack that can be used during the recovery frames of her V-Skill and special moves.
Ken Masters is the brash, cocky, and hot headed opposite to his eternal training partner Ryu's cool and focused discipline. An expert in his own right of his uniquely kinetic and fiery style of Ansatsuken, Ken is never one to back down from a fight and can always be counted on to come to Ryu's aid when the need arises.
V-Skill - Quick Step - A forward run that can be cancelled into a step kick or a regular attack near the end of the run.
V-Reversal - Senpu Nataotoshi - A flaming kick that pushes the opponent away.
V-Trigger I - Heat Rush - A special-cancelable forward dash, leaving Ken in a temporary powered-up state that adds hits to and improves the trajectories of Ken's special moves.
V-Trigger II - Shinryuken - Ken can perform a number of special-cancelable Shinryukens that deal additional damage with repeated button presses.
The mysterious ally of Urien formerly known as Helen has revealed herself as Kolin, a secret agent under the command of Gill. By combining the Russian martial art of Systema and the supernatural ice powers granted by her master, Kolin is a singularly powerful tool in the Illuminati's arsenal.
V-Skill- Inside Slash - A lunging strike that automatically deflects the opponent's attacks.
V-Reversal - Third Eye - A low slide along the ground that moves through the opponent.
V-Trigger I - Diamond Dust - Kolin sends a wave of ice spikes along the floor, damaging and freezing the opponent, stopping their stun gauge from depleting.
V-Trigger II - Absolute Zero - For a limited time, Kolin's punches and Hailstorm special attack are powered-up, and she gains access to a special dash that grants new properties to her attacks and allows her to freeze the opponent, stopping their stun gauge from depleting.
Elder sibling to Sean and the heir to the Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu fighting style, Laura specializes in getting up-close-and-personal with her opponents, overwhelming them with a wide variety of strikes and grapples. In a pinch, she can harness the power of electricity to enhance her attacks and generate projectiles.
V-Skill - Linear Movement/Volty Line - A dash forward or step back with an optional overhead kick followup that can also be performed from neutral.
V-Reversal - Double Slap - An electrified double backhand punch that knocks the opponent down.
V-Trigger I - Spark Show - A powered-up state that grants Laura additional stun on her attacks, additional range for her Thunder Clap, and enhanced movement for her V-Skill.
V-Trigger II - Shock Stance - Laura gains temporary access to a special dodge maneuver that avoids non-throw attacks and has a new command-grab followup.
The most infamous Street Fighter villain, M. Bison (known as Vega in Japan) is the evil dictator in charge of the criminal organization Shadaloo. He has returned with grayer hair and an enhanced mastery over the Psycho Power that enhances his abilities.
V-Skill - Psycho Reflect - Absorbs a single-hitting mid or high attack or projectile before reflecting a two-hit projectile back at the opponent. The counter-projectile is optional when absorbing a projectile.
V-Reversal - Psycho Burst - A burst of energy that knocks the opponent down.
V-Trigger I - Psycho Power - A temporary power-up that allows Bison to dash through his opponent, adds teleport/invincible frames to his Knee Press and Devil's Reverse, modifies various other special move properties, and allows special moves and EX special moves to be canceled into other EX special moves.
V-Trigger II - Psycho Nightmare - Bison regains access to his Psycho Crusher in addition to a new command grab that plants a time-bomb on his opponent that can also be detonated on command.
Menat is the student of a famous fortune teller from Italy, and has journeyed into the world to learn more about the mysterious power she senses within Ed. As a Soul Power practitioner, she fights with a crystal orb that enhances her strength and extends her reach.
V-Skill - Soul Reflect-Kamal/Stella - Reflects a projectile while the orb is retracted, absorbs a projectile while the orb is already set out, and launches the opponent on hit.
V-Reversal- Left Eye of the Lion - A teleport behind the opponent.
V-Trigger I - Wisdom of Thoth - Menat summons six orbs of soul power that she can release individually to create pressure and extend combos.
V-Trigger II - Prophecy of Thoth - Menat summons two sets of six orbs that can be released as a group in a variety of patterns.
Despite seemingly sacrificing himself at the end of Street Fighter Alpha 3, Charlie Nash has finally resurfaced. Guile's mentor appears to be a bit worse for wear, with Frankenstein-like patches across his face and body and a gem embedded in his forehead that is reminiscent of Urien and Gill from Street Fighter III. Nash retains his trademark one-armed Sonic Boom and brings with him a bevy of new techniques including a health-draining hit-grab and an incredibly fast teleport.
V-Skill - Bullet Clear - A long-range swipe of his hand that can absorb projectiles or poke the opponent.
V-Reversal - Sonic Move-Avoid - A rapid teleport behind the opponent.
V-Trigger I - Sonic Move-Hide/Blitz Air/Steel Air - A fast, special-cancelable variable teleport that can place Nash behind the opponent, in the air behind the opponent, or in the air in front of the opponent.
V-Trigger II - Stealth Dash - Nash performs a special dash that a launching kick and overhead punch attack followup.
The ancient warrior Necalli utilizes his aggressive fighting style to overwhelm his opponents and consume their souls. His goal is to brutalize his opponents from close range using a wide variety of animalistic attacks. Once he unleashes his V-Trigger, however, he takes on an entirely new personality as he taps into his true potential as a combat genius.
V-Skill - Culminated Power - A ground-pound that unleashes an aimable explosion from the floor.
V-Reversal - The Calling - A powerful roar that knocks the opponent down.
V-Trigger I - Torrent of Power - Necalli transforms for the remainder of the round, gaining new combos, modified frame data, a stronger Critical Art, and a new leaping slash attack.

R. Mika returns to show the world her wrestling prowess and earn the title of "Star of the Ring". With the help of her tag-team partner Nadeshiko, the "7-Colored Bomber" will take on all comers to prove that her style of fighting makes her just as explosively powerful as her idol, Zangief.
V-Skill - Heated Mic Performance - Grants her one hit of armor as she charges up the strength of her throws, ending in a mic thrown at the opponent.
V-Reversal - Peach Gator - A stunning kick that leads into a throw that knocks the opponent down.
V-Trigger I - Nadeshiko (Above/Front/Behind) - Mika calls on her teammate Nadeshiko to deliver a dropkick to the opponent from the front or back, or a body splash from above.
V-Trigger II - Steel Chair - Nadeshiko runs out to attack Mika's opponent with a chair, either by throwing it or by taking two quick swings.
The wandering warrior from Japan, Ryu is a practitioner of the martial arts style Ansatsuken. V-Trigger II - Tyrant Pressure - Urien gains access to a new special shoulder tackle that does multiple hits, grants him one hit of armor while it is being charged, and at maximum power guard breaks and puts the opponent into a juggle state.
Vega (known as Balrog in Japan) is a man obsessed with beauty. Trained at a young age in the art of ninjutsu, the Spanish claw ninja was able to quickly rise through the ranks to his current position as Shadaloo assassin and bodyguard to M. Bison. He has learned some new tricks since his last appearance, and now willingly stows his claw in order to utilize his improved hand-to-hand combat skills when the situation calls for it.
V-Skill - Matador Turn - A pirouette that avoids incoming mid and high attacks as well as projectiles, with the option for a lunging counterattack follow up.
V-Reversal - Backslash/Short Backlash - A variable back flip that creates space between Vega and his opponent.
V-Trigger I - Bloody Kiss-Torero/Rojo/Azul - Vega throws a fast rose projectile from either the ground or a forward jump that he follows up on-contact with a diving claw attack.
V-Trigger II - Alegrias - Vega gains a temporary power-up allowing him to utilize a counter-attack with a launching kick followup that can be performed independently.

V-Skill - Iron Muscle - Grants two hits of armor with the option to slide toward the opponent and perform a damaging flex of his muscles.
V-Reversal - Muscle Explosion - A chest-bump that leaves the opponent at close-range.
V-Trigger I - Cyclone Lariat - Zangief temporarily powers up, gaining access to an enhanced version of his V-Skill as well as an angled spinning lariat that can be modified to either suck the opponent in or deliver a flurry of strikes.
V-Trigger II - Cossack Muscle - Zangief's next successful Screw Pile Driver or Borscht Dynamite does significantly increased damage and his Screw Pile Driver gains the ability to be comboed into.
When his pupil, Guy, spared his life after defeating him to claim the title of the 39th Master of Bushinryu, Zeku mysteriously disappeared. He has only just now resurfaced, with the goal of founding his own ninja clan and discovering a new style of fighting. Included with the various techniques he has mastered over a lifetime is the ability to transform to a younger form and leverage the full power of Bushinryu.
V-Skill - Fukuro/Tenpo Kari - An attack that allows Zeku to teleport in front of or behind his opponent, transforming between his older and younger selves in the process.
V-Reversal - Toushi - A double palm strike that knocks the opponent down.
V-Trigger I - Bushinryu Shigekiko - Zeku performs a quick teleport dash that grants him immediate access to execute a single custom combo.
V-Trigger II - Karura Tenzan - Zeku performs a strong anti-air attack, transforms, and pursues his opponent with a series of blows before decided on which side to land.
Beyond the initial cast of 16 characters, Capcom announced plans to release an additional 6 characters as DLC over the course of 2016:
On December 3, 2016, during the Sony Playstation Experience, a second season of DLC characters was announced for Street Fighter V. After Akuma who releases on December 20th, 2016, 5 additional characters were slated for release over the course of 2017:
After the Capcom Cup finals on December 10, 2017, the third season of DLC characters for Street Fighter V was announced for release throughout the next year, starting with Sakura and the Arcade Edition update on January 16, 2018.
Unlike many popular fighting games, Capcom has taken a more "wait-and-see" approach to adjusting the balance of SFV. Outside of the occasional minor bug fixes and a few system-wide attempts to reduce the efficacy of option-selects (exploits in the way a game handles multiple inputs to ensure an optimal result in multiple situations), no balance changes were made over the course of the 2016 Capcom Pro Tour season.
With nearly a year's worth of tournament results and footage to reference. Capcom made sweeping changes to the game balance in preparation for the 2017 Pro Tour season. Outside of various buffs and nerfs to try to bring the cast more in line, Capcom adopted a few key ways they wanted to change the game across the board for season 2:
Recovery after successful throws - the ability to get guaranteed midscreen pressure after a successful throw was reduced across a majority of the cast
Strong anti-air light attacks - the potency of light attacks as anti-airs was reduced
Invincible reversal reliance - characters no longer had access to fully invincible reversals without spending meter
At the end of May, 2017, Capcom released another balance update for season 2. Several characters that were underperforming after their season 2 adjustments had those changes reduced or reversed. Invincible reversals were further normalized and changes were made to remove the jump-back throw tech option-select technique.
On October 5, 2017, Capcom officially announced the game would be receive a large-scale update in 2018 named "Arcade Edition". In addition to the new Arcade Mode and the belated Extra Battle Mode, each character received a secondary V-Trigger to be selected before battle, in addition to various balance changes.
Capcom Fighting Network
The Capcom Fighting Network (CFN) is a community tool that is integrated directly into Street Fighter V's online infrastructure. By accessing the CFN, players have access to a wealth of information including:
A heat map showing online activity around the world
Viewable player profiles with detailed match statistics
The ability to designate "Rivals" and monitor their performance
Register and follow the activities of friends and favorite players
Search for and watch match replays
Send online fight requests
Receive the latest in patch and tournament news
Unlike previous entries in the franchise which saw each iteration treated as an entirely new release, owners of SFV only need the original copy of the game to access any additional content. Launching with an initial cast of 16, the roster of SFV will expand over time through the gradual release of new characters as DLC. While system and balance changes are available as free updates, any characters or other gameplay-relevant content not included in the core game can can be purchased using real money or in-game currency.
Fight Money is the name of the in-game currency that is earned purely through gameplay. The primary ways of earning Fight Money include completing daily challenges, leveling up individual characters by spending time with them in various game modes, and defeating special opponents in Extra Battle.
After being leaked days before, Street Fighter V was officially unveiled at the Sony's PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas on December 6th with a teaser trailer of Ryu and Chun-Li. It is a console exclusive to the PlayStation 4, the product of a deal between Capcom and Sony, who are said to have an unspecified role in helping the development.
Once again the game is a joint development between Capcom and Dimps. The first live match was played on-stage during Capcom's fighting game tournament event, the Capcom Cup 2014 a week later, providing early details of system mechanics. The game was said to be 20% complete at the time.
It was announced that the game would be developed on Unreal Engine 4 as opposed to Street Fighter IV's custom-created Dimps engine. The creator of UE4, Epic Games, is said to have both staff from Epic Games Japan and the Epic Games's HQ in North Carolina, USA functioning as support staff to maximize SFV's development on UE4.
